Headlight Replacement and Car Light Repair in Youngsville, NC

Headlight replacement is one of the quickest jobs we do at Victory Tire & Auto, and one of the most put off. A dead bulb on one side. A tail light that flickers over bumps. A dash that went dark on the passenger side. We fix interior and exterior car lights at our shop on US-1 N in Youngsville, NC, and have since 2008.

Head north out of town toward Franklinton and the streetlights quit fast. After that it is your low beams and the reflectors. Bad stretch to find out a headlight is out. If you searched auto lighting services near me after an oncoming driver flashed their brights at you, call 919-556-7726 and we will find you a weekday slot.

What Interior and Exterior Lighting Work Covers

Lighting work covers everything that turns on when you start the car or flip a switch. On the outside, that means:

  • Headlights, low and high beam, from halogen bulbs to sealed headlight assemblies
  • Tail lights and brake lights, including the third brake light mounted up high
  • Turn signals and hazard flashers, front and rear
  • Fog lights, side marker lights and license plate lights
  • Reverse lights

Inside, it is dome and map lights, door lights, dash and gauge backlighting, and the switches and dimmer that run them. A light that will not come on can be a bulb, a fuse, a relay, a switch, a bad ground or the wiring in between. The job starts with finding out which one. Adding new lights instead? See our aftermarket accessories installation page.

Tail Light Replacement, Dim Beams and Other Lighting Problems

Most calls for tail light replacement start with somebody else noticing. A friend behind you at a stoplight, or the inspection lane. North Carolina safety inspections check headlights, tail lights, brake lights and turn signals, so one dead bulb can hold up your state inspection until it is fixed. Here is what we see most:

  • One headlight out, or both going dim at idle and brightening when you rev the engine
  • A turn signal blinking twice as fast as normal, which usually means a bulb on that side is out
  • Brake lights stuck on, or not coming on at all
  • Water or fog inside a headlight or tail light housing
  • A cracked lens or housing after a parking lot bump or a deer on a back road
  • Dash or dome lights dead after another repair or an aftermarket install
  • Cloudy, yellowed headlight lenses that cut down how far you can see at night

Lights that dim and brighten with engine speed point toward the charging system more than the bulbs. If that sounds like your car, we test the battery and alternator, the same work on our battery and charging page. Brake lights that stay lit can drain a battery overnight, and they tie into the brake system through the switch at the pedal.

How We Trace a Car Light That Keeps Burning Out

Swapping a bulb takes minutes. Figuring out why the new one quit three weeks later takes a little longer. When a light keeps failing, we check voltage at the socket, look for corrosion and melted connectors, and test the ground. On newer vehicles a lot of the lighting runs through a body control module, and a scan tool can pull the fault faster than chasing wires. It is the same equipment we use for computer diagnostics on a check engine light.

Headlight restoration comes up too. From the driver seat, a hazy lens and a weak bulb look about the same. We will tell you which one you have before you spend money, so call ahead if you want to talk through what fits your lenses.

Tell us which light is out and what you drive. We answer every call Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and return every voicemail.

What a Headlight Replacement Visit Looks Like

For headlight replacement or any other light, call or send a service request with the year, make and model and which light is out. Some bulbs are quick to get. Some housings and LED assemblies have to be ordered, and we tell you how long that takes before anything comes apart.

Once the car is in the bay, we confirm the cause, quote the repair and start after you say go. Then we walk around it with everything switched on: low beams, highs, signals, brakes, reverse. You see it working before you leave. If an oil change and check-up is coming due, it fits on the same drop-off.

Headlight Replacement Cost and Getting a Quote

There is no single price for headlight replacement. A standard halogen bulb is a small part and quick labor. A sealed LED headlight assembly on a newer truck can cost many times that, and some cars need the bumper cover loosened just to reach the bulb. Wiring repairs depend on what we find.

So we look first and quote before we start. No surprise line items. You can read what customers say about our pricing on the Victory Tire reviews page.

Car Light Repair for Wake Forest, Franklinton and the US-1 Corridor

The shop is at 436 US-1 N in Youngsville. Plenty of our lighting customers drive in from Wake Forest, Franklinton, Rolesville, Louisburg and Zebulon, and others come over from Creedmoor and Butner. Drivers from north Raleigh and Durham make the trip too. If you are in any of those towns looking up auto lighting services near me, we are a straight run up or down US-1.

Curious who is doing the work? Here is how the shop got started. And once every light on the car passes, we can knock out your NC inspection on the same visit as the headlight replacement.

Questions

Auto Lighting Services Questions From Youngsville Drivers

How long does headlight replacement take?

A standard bulb swap is usually quick. Sealed LED assemblies, or cars that need the bumper cover loosened, take longer, and some parts have to be ordered. We give you a time when we quote the job.

Will a burned-out light fail my NC inspection?

Yes. North Carolina safety inspections check headlights, tail lights, brake lights and turn signals. Fix the light first and you avoid a second trip.

Why is my turn signal blinking fast?

Usually a bulb on that side is out, and the flasher speeds up to warn you. It can also be a bad socket or ground.

Do you do tail light replacement on trucks and SUVs?

Yes. We work on cars, SUVs and pickups, including tail light housings and third brake lights.

Why do my headlights keep burning out?

Repeat failures often come from a corroded socket, a bad ground, moisture in the housing or a charging system putting out too much voltage. We test for those instead of just installing another bulb.

Can you fix interior lights like the dome light or dash lights?

Yes. Interior lighting covers dome and map lights, door lights, and dash and gauge backlighting, plus the fuses, switches and wiring behind them.

What are your hours in Youngsville?

Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Closed Saturday and Sunday. We answer every call during those hours and respond to every voicemail.

How much does headlight replacement cost?

It depends on the vehicle and the type of light. A halogen bulb costs far less than a sealed LED assembly. We inspect it and quote the price before any work starts at our Youngsville shop.
